Link Building
Ethical backlink building that still compounds over time.
Most link building shortcuts work for a quarter and then get devalued in an algorithm update. Here is what actually holds up over years.

Digital PR beats directory submissions every time
A single link from a genuine news story about your client's data, product launch or hire carries more weight and more durability than fifty links from low-quality directories. Journalists link to sources because the story needs them, and that link tends to stay live for years because the article itself stays live.
The skill is not in pitching harder, it is in having something worth covering. A survey of your own customer base, an internal dataset turned into a public report, or a genuinely useful free tool gives a journalist a reason to write about you that has nothing to do with SEO.
Guest posting still works if the content is actually good
Guest posting got a bad name because most of it became link farming disguised as thought leadership. The tactic itself is not the problem. A well-argued piece placed on a site your prospects actually read builds both a link and referral traffic, which is the combination that survives algorithm changes because it has value independent of the link.
Avoid guest posting on sites that exist purely to sell placements. If the site has no real audience, no editorial standards and accepts almost any pitch for a fee, the link will eventually be devalued or the site deindexed entirely, taking your link with it.
Resource pages and broken link building are underused
Finding a dead link on a relevant resource page and offering a working replacement is unglamorous but it converts at a high rate because you are solving a real problem for the site owner, not asking for a favour. This tactic scales slowly but the links it produces are genuinely earned.
The same logic applies to unlinked brand mentions. If a site already mentions your client by name without linking, a polite outreach asking for the mention to become a link has a far higher acceptance rate than a cold pitch, because the relationship already exists in the content.
Private link networks are a liability, not a shortcut
Paid link schemes and private blog networks can produce fast ranking movement, which is exactly why they get scrutinised. When a network gets caught, every site linked from it loses value overnight, and there is no way to unwind the exposure once it has happened. Agencies that build a book of business on this approach are building client risk they rarely disclose.
Track link quality, not just link count
A monthly report that only shows a rising number of referring domains hides the real question, which is whether those domains are relevant, trafficked and likely to still exist in two years. Judge a link building programme by the quality of a handful of its best placements, not the volume of its weakest ones.
