Technical SEO

Multi-region SEO, done properly.

Most international SEO failures are not content failures. They are signal failures: conflicting canonicals, partial hreflang, and crawl budget spent on junk.

9 min

Rule one: canonicals point at themselves

Every locale URL must canonicalise to itself. A Spanish page canonicalising to the English page tells Google to drop the Spanish page from the index. This single mistake removes entire language trees from search.

Rule two: hreflang clusters must be complete and reciprocal

If /en/services links to /es/services and /pt/services, both of those must link back to all three, plus x-default. Partial clusters get ignored silently.

Rule three: protect crawl budget

Keep parameter URLs, thin duplicates and internal search results out of the sitemap. Every programmatic page you publish should carry unique intent, unique copy and at least one internal link from a hub page.
