Technical SEO
Programmatic SEO that survives a Google update, built for service businesses.
Programmatic SEO has a bad reputation because most implementations are thin pages stitched from a spreadsheet. Done properly, it is just disciplined content architecture at volume.

What programmatic SEO actually is
It means generating a page for each variation in a well-defined data set, such as service by location, service by industry, or comparison by competitor, using a shared template and structured data. It is not a shortcut around writing useful content, it is a way to apply the same quality bar consistently at volume.
The businesses that get burned treat the template as the finished product. The businesses that succeed treat the template as a starting point that a human or a careful process then fills with specifics.
Picking a data set worth templating
A good candidate has genuine search demand for each variation, meaningfully different content to say about each one, and a natural way to link them together. Service by city for a business with real regional operations fits. Service by every possible adjective does not.
Before building the template, search a sample of the target queries yourself and read what currently ranks. If the top results are all thin listicles, there is room. If they are detailed, specific pages, your template needs to clear a higher bar.
Building in quality control, not just volume
Set a required minimum of unique, non-templated content per page, and require a human review pass before publishing any batch. Track indexation rate over time. If a meaningful share of a batch fails to get indexed within a few weeks, that is a direct signal that quality is too thin, not a sign to publish faster.
Keep a de-indexed or under-performing page list and either improve or remove those pages on a schedule. A programmatic system without maintenance turns into a landfill within a year.
Where this fits an agency's own site
Agencies often template comparison pages, integration pages or location pages for their own marketing. The same discipline applies: each page needs a reason to exist beyond filling a slot in a spreadsheet.
