Global Web

A digital playbook for Latin America that treats Spanish and Portuguese as separate markets.

Brazil is not Mexico and Mexico is not Argentina. Treating Latin America as one homogenous Spanish-and-Portuguese blob is the fastest way to waste a media budget in the region.

Portuguese and Spanish need separate strategies, not a shared template

Brazil runs on WhatsApp Business, Instagram and increasingly on Pix-linked checkout flows. Spanish-speaking markets split further still: Mexico behaves differently from Argentina, and Chile behaves differently from Colombia in terms of payment methods, ad costs and search behaviour. A single Spanish-language site with a Portuguese toggle is a starting point, not a finished strategy.

Search intent phrasing changes too. The same product gets described with different verbs and slang across these markets, so keyword research done once in neutral Spanish and applied everywhere will miss real search volume in each country.

Payment friction kills more LatAm conversions than design does

Credit card penetration is lower and installment culture is stronger across most of the region than in North America or Europe. A checkout that only accepts a single international card type will lose buyers who expect boleto, Pix, OXXO or local installment plans as standard options.

Before touching copy or layout, audit what payment methods are actually available at checkout in each target country. This single fix often outperforms every other conversion optimisation combined.

Local hosting and page speed matter more given mobile-first traffic

A large share of LatAm traffic arrives on mid-range Android devices over mobile data, not fiber broadband. A site built and tested on a fast connection in another region will feel sluggish here, and sluggish sites lose trust fast in markets where fraud concerns are already higher.

Serve assets from a CDN with real presence in the region and test load times on throttled 4G, not just on office wifi, before calling a LatAm launch ready.

Trust signals differ from what works in the US or Europe

A real phone number, a physical or fiscal address, and visible customer service through WhatsApp do more to establish legitimacy than a wall of client logos. Trust in the region is built through responsiveness and human contact, not through badges.

Reviews matter, but Google reviews carry less weight in some LatAm markets than they do elsewhere. Social proof through Instagram comments and WhatsApp referrals often converts better than a review widget bolted onto a product page.

Measure the region separately from your global dashboard

Pooling LatAm traffic into a single global conversion rate hides both the opportunity and the friction. Break out Brazil, Mexico and the rest of Spanish-speaking LatAm as their own segments so a slow rollout in one country does not get masked by strong performance in another.
